I thought it would be pertinent to give you a little insight and status update on what else is happening on Inn Street this spring and summer. Enclosed in this email you will see a photo of a before shot that is going to be enlarged and placed on a plaque commemorating the inn street Restoration project. There is a scheduled ribbon cutting for the fountain restoration on June 4th.
I could not think of a better time to be promoting the Yankee Homecoming Inn Street Artisan Revival. It is destined to become a main attraction for this years festival. Together with the restoration project and the excitement I am seeing from within the local community regarding the Artisans Revival in contrast to all the flack generated from last year, this event has the potential to really be something.
When you look at this photo which is the exact spot where my art cart is located, the ‘Artisans Revival’ encapsulates so much more than just a restoration of an area, but that of the community and the arts and culture that has flourished within it over the years.
As an artist of Newburyport, and one that has worked this street and festivals for the last ten years, I also could not think of a better project to be part of.
I am both humbled and honored for this opportunity, and with some help and cooperation, I look forward to putting forth an Artisans Revival venue that will inspire not only the artisans within it, but the community itself for years to come.
Being the first year something like this has taken place, the overall goal is to not only put forth the best venue we can for this year, but to lay the foundation for many more to come. I would love to see this billed as the 1st Annual Yankee Homecoming Inn Street Artisans Revival.
As director of Yankee Homecoming, you have an amazing opportunity to take credit for this, and deservedly so. I continue to encourage you and the Yankee Homecoming committee to work with me and to fully support, encourage, and promote this event.

- Received brass column plates, nozzles, and light fixtures back from Delta
On March 16, 2016, Hannah Carlson from Horsley Witten Group visited the site along with Mike Hathaway from Hathaway Landscape (Arborist) to review the placement of the spray jets, perform a general inspection, review outstanding required mockups and material samples and to discuss the best course of protect and nursih the existing trees. Anticipated work on Inn Street for the remainder of this week and next is to :
- Install Bollards
- Pour additional concrete pads and concrete base for splash pad
- Masonry work within fountain limits
Subcommittee planning the ribbon cutting event for June 4th. Attached is one of the photos that will be blown up and displayed to show a dramatic before shot of the area. We have so much to be thankful for, especially to the people that had the vision and influence to save our downtown from the bulldozers of urban renewal.
There is much to celebrate! See you all on June 4th 🙂
